Appearance:

Macroscopic
Tumor located at the endometrium, infiltrates the cervix.

Cut section is soft and pink.

Microscopic
Tumor is characterized by proliferations of round or oval cells. The tumor cells have basophilic, irregular nuclei and scanty cytoplasm. Nuclear chromatin is coarse and nucleoli are prominent. Mitoses are evident. The tumor cells form clusters, or trabeculae, invading the muscularis proporia. The stroma shows necrotic areas and is infiltrated by inflammatory cells including lymphocytes and neutrophils.
