PATHOLOGY DATA

 
Location: Lesser curvature.  
   
Gross findings:

Ulcerated, vegetated lesion, located at the lesser curvature.

Tumor measures 3 cm x 4 cm in diameter. Gray in color, wall 1.5 cm thick. Firm, dirty, hemorrhagic.
   
Microscopic findings: Biopsy shows malignant columnar cells arranged in glands. The malignant cells have clear cytoplasm with vacuoles. Nuclei have irregular nuclear membranes, cytoplasm is granular, or vacuolated with large nucleoli. Many monstrous nuclei. The malignant cells have invaded the gastric wall. There is evidence of mucinous secretion.
