PATHOLOGY DATA

 
Location: Gastric antrum.  
   
Gross findings:

Tumor located at the pyloric antrum. Tumor measures 5 cm x 5 cm x 4 cm in diameter. Lesion is large, has an irregular profile, shows necrosis and interrupts the gastric folds. Paragastric lymph nodes: 6.

   
Microscopic findings: The tumor is composed of nests of epithelial cells forming the gland, with coarse chromatin, and nuclear pleomorphism. The tumor cells also are arranged in trebecular patterns or cords, and invade the muscular wall and serosa. Tumor necrosis is present, as well as lymphocytic response. Lymph nodes show 3 of 6 positive.
