PATHOLOGY DATA

 
Location: Lesser curvature.  
   
Gross findings:

Ulcerative lesion located at the lesser curvature.

Tumor measures 3 cm x 3 cm x 3.5 cm in diameter.

Cut section is hard and gray/white.

Paragastric lymph nodes: 5.

   
Microscopic findings: The tumor is composed of malignant epithelial cells with coarse chromatin, and large vacuolated cytoplasm. The tumor has large numbers of signet-ring cells mixed with other tumor cells, floating in the mucin pool and infiltrating into the gastric wall. Blood vessel and serosal invasions are not revealed. No tumor necrosis. Lymph nodes show 0 of 5 positive.
