PATHOLOGY DATA

 
Location: Left upper quadrant.  
   
Gross findings: Ulcerated, vegetated tumor, measures 3 cm x 3 cm in diameter. Base is firm, dirty, and hemorrhagic. Wall is firm.
   
Microscopic findings: Biopsy shows malignant columnar cells arranged in glands. The malignant cells have clear cytoplasm with vacuoles. There is evidence of mucinous secretion. Nuclei are irregular with large nucleoli. Many monstrous nuclei and several mitoses. The malignant cells have invaded the gastric wall.
