PATHOLOGY DATA

Location: Lesser curvature.

Gross findings: Ulcerative lesion located at the lesser curvature, ill demarcated. Ulceration measures 3 cm in diameter. Cut section is firm and white. Paragastric lymph nodes: 6.

Microscopic findings: Tissue sections show ulcerative lesion of mucosa. The stroma is infiltrated by epithelial cells with small, basophilic, irregular nuclei and abundant cytoplasm, Cytoplasm contains much mucin. Nuclear chromatin is coarse with prominent nuclei. Mitotic figures are not evident. The neoplastic cells invade the smooth muscle propria. The stroma is infiltrated by numerous lymphocytes, plasma cells, eosinophils and neutrophils.
